My back is killing me too. 9 hours behind the computer, and then 5 hours last night painting my mini doors for Massive Darkness. Guess what I'm doing tonight. I'll give you 3 guesses and the first 2 don't count. They are starting to look pretty spiffy though.
This might be my future. All day at work on the computer (tech teacher here) then hopefully learning to paint minis. I got to order all my needed supplies. Thinking about getting Reapers beginner kit on Amazon. I know many minis need a primer also (though Reaper minis do not). Watching vids to learn the basics.

Ryan Laukat is both a game designer and artist who did the artwork for Above and below, Islebound, Near and Far, The Ancient World, and City of Iron. Its rare for an artist to also be a great game designer, but Ryan is able to balance both skills equally well. His style is bright, colorful, and whimsical, creating the fantasy world his games are set in.

Name: RomyCat
Race: Khajiit
Class: Mage
Best Known Skill: Putting dogs in their place with the Stare of Petrify.
Famous for: Ending the Hundred Year War of Tails. She was the negotiator between the two sides. When they refuse to reach a compromise, she put a spell on all their tasty treats, making them tasteless until they agreed to end the war.
Most Ashamed of: As a kitten, she accidentally set the barn on fire while practicing magic.
RomyCat is a dignify spell master who has trained many apprentices. Sadly, a few of them eventually turned to the dark side and she had to hunt them down, banishing them to the netherworld. Still, she is a highly respected instructor, mentor, and friend to her remaining students. She has semi-retired after serving two decades on the High Council and went back to teaching younglings who occasionally start forest fires while practicing their magic. Fortunately, she has mastered all the elements and uses water spells to negate their mistakes.

Wow, I just finished watching Suicide Squad for the first time, and your hammer reminds me of the one Harley Quinn used. Personally, I think your is much nicer in quality and looks better.

I also began searching for dungeon furniture. The best, cheapest I have found is from the company Mantic Games. Originally, their Dungeon Saga: Furniture Pack was an add-on for a Kickstarter game they produced several years ago. Their furniture pack became so popular, that they began selling it separately. Also, they recently did another Kickstarter (which I missed) for a lot more cool 3D miniature items.
The pieces come unpainted in brown. They feel study and are highly detailed. As many of the items are suppose to be made from wood, the brown works well. Still, I may try my hand at painting them.

Next, I brought doors, chests, and barrels. The doors are from Zomicide: Black Plague 3D Doors. I don't own Zomicide but I thought the doors would be useful. They open and close easily. Plus you get 27 of them!
The barrels and treasure chests I picked up at the website Top Shelf Gamer. They sell awesome upgrades for many games. I had already picked up some of their tokens for Charterstone and Scythe, some of which I included in the second picture.

Needing something to do while waiting for my copy of Gloomhaven from the second Kickstarter to come in, I have been looking into how to upgrade the gaming components. I started with buying Broken Token insert. It comes in laser cut sheets of Baltic Birch. I stained mine with American Walnut color then assembled the pieces. Afterwards I added varnish--perhaps too much as the large tray kept reflecting light when I took its picture. There are 17 pieces in total, though I don't know what all of them hold yet. Also, it comes with 27 tuck boxes for the monsters (which I didn't take a picture of).
I enjoyed the staining and assembly. Made me want to work on more projects. Now my eyes are turning towards painting miniatures.

Ian, your work look awesome. I have learned working with wood can be fun too, though my project is not is not beautiful like yours.

DMG, I was surfing the web looking for 3D models for Gloomhaven and came across this.

I was not sure if I should be upset or flattered that they copied your idea. Anyway, I thought you should be made aware of it, if you had not seen it yet.
I am much happier having the wood version than a plastic version.
