  1. Awesome job, Barb. That bottom door has so many cool details. I just ordered my paints and am excitedly waiting for them. As the Reaper beginner kit comes with several minis that don't need primer and includes a how-to booklet, I will start there. Hopefully I can build my skills up a little then try to tackle those roaches from Mice and Mystics. How hard can it be to paint a bug? I will be finding out. Once I get a bit more confidence I will tackle the other characters from the game. After that, I have mini furniture and cave items I bought to enhance Gloomhaven, including chests and doo
  2. Was reading your blog, Lindsey. How many miniatures do you own? Do you get the Ghostbuster game? That was a lot of miniatures. Barb, you are making me want to buy that face painting set, yet I have not even mastered the basics yet...or even started painting. I'm still trying to be careful what I buy and lay out a plan for that. Question, when you are painting miniatures, do you hold it in your hand, have some type of turning wheel, or another why to handle the figures to move them without touching them?

    #3: Redheart

Quote: "Because of this fact, I have made it my personal mission to put a piece of Redheart in the hands of every gamer in the world!" I'm for that. How many trees would we need to chop down to complete that goal? Hopefully there is a huge forest of Redheart trees. I would love to have a redheart dragon sheath myself. I will keep that in mine for the future.
  4. Thanks for the advice, Blinkus. If I buy it, I will try to pick up an extra red to use. I know I will need all primary colors.
  5. Blinkus Maximus, she looks awesome. If any of mine come out even half that good, I will be happy. Konos and Lindsey, both of your also look cool. All of you have talent...and not just with wood. As I am trying to figure out the best way to get started with painting, I have several questions. I have watched videos and read different discussions about paints. I am currently considering buying Reaper's beginning kit to get started. 6. Thanks everyone for the link to Massive Voodoo and the tips about painting. I'm very excited about beginning.
  7. This might be my future. All day at work on the computer (tech teacher here) then hopefully learning to paint minis. I got to order all my needed supplies. Thinking about getting Reapers beginner kit on Amazon. I know many minis need a primer also (though Reaper minis do not). Watching vids to learn the basics.
  8. Ryan Laukat is both a game designer and artist who did the artwork for Above and below, Islebound, Near and Far, The Ancient World, and City of Iron. Its rare for an artist to also be a great game designer, but Ryan is able to balance both skills equally well. His style is bright, colorful, and whimsical, creating the fantasy world his games are set in.

  10. Wow, I just finished watching Suicide Squad for the first time, and your hammer reminds me of the one Harley Quinn used. Personally, I think your is much nicer in quality and looks better.
  11. I also began searching for dungeon furniture. The best, cheapest I have found is from the company Mantic Games. Originally, their Dungeon Saga: Furniture Pack was an add-on for a Kickstarter game they produced several years ago. Their furniture pack became so popular, that they began selling it separately. Also, they recently did another Kickstarter (which I missed) for a lot more cool 3D miniature items. The pieces come unpainted in brown. They feel study and are highly detailed. As many of the items are suppose to be made from wood, the brown works well. Still, I may try my hand at pai
  12. Next, I brought doors, chests, and barrels. The doors are from Zomicide: Black Plague 3D Doors. I don't own Zomicide but I thought the doors would be useful. They open and close easily. Plus you get 27 of them! The barrels and treasure chests I picked up at the website Top Shelf Gamer. They sell awesome upgrades for many games. I had already picked up some of their tokens for Charterstone and Scythe, some of which I included in the second picture. 13. Needing something to do while waiting for my copy of Gloomhaven from the second Kickstarter to come in, I have been looking into how to upgrade the gaming components. I started with buying Broken Token insert. It comes in laser cut sheets of Baltic Birch. I stained mine with American Walnut color then assembled the pieces. Afterwards I added varnish--perhaps too much as the large tray kept reflecting light when I took its picture. There are 17 pieces in total, though I don't know what all of them hold yet. Also, it comes with 27 tuck boxes for the monsters (which I didn't take a picture of).
  14. @Serge, your collection is impressive, quite impressive.
  15. Ian, your work look awesome. I have learned working with wood can be fun too, though my project is not is not beautiful like yours.
  16. DMG, I was surfing the web looking for 3D models for Gloomhaven and came across this. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2402641 I was not sure if I should be upset or flattered that they copied your idea. Anyway, I thought you should be made aware of it, if you had not seen it yet. I am much happier having the wood version than a plastic version.

    #2: Chechen

Wow, another poisonous tree. And I thought trees only attacked by falling on lumberjacks. They are more creative than I thought. No wander lumberjacks need to master wielding the ax to defend themselves.

    #1: Black Walnut

I just stained by Broken Token for Gloomhaven American Walnut. My inserts looks great. Walnut is a great wood color.
