  1. Finally played my sister's copy of Black Sonata. The mechanics of this game are really cool how the Dark Lady is constantly moving about the map and your trying to catch her then figure out her identity. It's like Scotland Yard and Fury of Dracula, but for solo play only. How someone came up with such a game is mind boggling to me. Now if only I could actually win the game.
  2. Wow, that is a lot of games. Just got my replacement piece today for my green meeple that had a broken axe. Now I'm ready to play another game of Snowdonia.
  3. What if Dog Might releases a game this year? 😇
  4. My sister and I found it confusing too at first. I finally found a link which list the card divisions. One of the booklets tells the abbreviation for each set of cards so you know what category each card belongs. Once I figured that out, I used some index cards for dividers to tell the different sets of cards apart. 5. Ah, I remember that. We had a fun start, then there were no more posts. I will consider that.
  6. You get the game yet? Its one major package! I really enjoyed playing it with my sister.
  7. Yeah, I didn't mention be D&D Essentials Kit I recently bought. Its hard for my sister and I to talk her daughter and friends into playing. So the campaign my sister started during the summer has not gotten very far. I read that the Essentials Kit actually allows 2 players to role-player. One as DM and the other control one main character and a sidekick. I need to dig into the material and start a campaign for just my sister and me. I did like the dice and material that came with it. Even has a DM screen--not nearly as cool as what DMG makes, but it contains lots of quick, helpful fa
  8. I've wanted to play Root, but was concerned about how it would play at 2 players, so I never bought it. I'm hoping Skulk Hollow, which is designed for two players, will fill that itch. I do own Founders of Gloomhaven. Overall I like it, but when you build Tier 3 buildings, it can be difficult to figure out who supposed to get the split points for it. Even my sister, who is good at math, struggles with trying to figure out how many points each player earns.
  9. I love your signs. Great motivator to perhaps actually play. Writing my list made me realize there was a lot more unplayed games in my house than I realized. I'm making it my goal to get at least some of these played soon.
  10. My Shelf of Shame Black Sonata--not made time Book of Dragons--not made time Dungeon Roll--forgot we even own this one as my sister keeps it in her room Empires of the Void--sit down and started the directions, got distracted, and never came back to them Magic the Gather: Area of Planewalker--read the rules but couldn't get my sister interested to play Magic the Gathering: Shadow Over Innistaard--read the rules but couldn't get my sister interested to play Monopoly Mario Kart--not made time. I did read the rules. My Village--read the rules, not m
  11. What are the games you own but never played? What reasons are they collecting dust? Share your shame and progress.
  12. Glad I'm not the only one with a stack on unplayed games which has grown this year. It used to only be 2 or 3 games. Not sure how many now. Need to make a proper list.
  13. Link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fowers/burgle-bros-2-the-casino-capers/description My sister and I love the original Burgle Bros 2. We are using it this year as one of our 10x10 Challenge games. Sometimes its fun to play as bad guys 😈 The sequel looks exciting with some new twists.
  14. Here is my latest update for Kickstarters I am waiting on: 2019 Burgle Bros 2: The Casino Capers The Isle of Cats Roll Player: Fiends & Familiar Big Box Roam (plus Haven) Seasons of Rise (plus Tussie Mussie) 2018 Awkward Guest (shipping soon, I think) Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood of Venice Zoo-ography D6: Dungeons, Dudes, Dames, Danger, Dice & Dragons! Incoming Transmission Tang Garden 2016 Whelps to Wyrms (Printed but developer ran out of money to ship them. They are sitting in a warehouse somewhere
  15. I got Snowdonia in today, and I must say I was blown away by it. First off, the box is huge....like in Gloomhaven huge. The box is about the same height, but a bit shorter in length. The components inside....wow. Plastic trays, elegant boxes to hold cards, extra baggies I didn't need because almost everything fit in the trays. Three booklets. The wooden tokens are amazing. Both their shapes and silk screen really shine. One green meeple was broken. I might can glue it back, but I might ask for a replacement. While I wish it was not broken, I'm not upset by it. Accidents happen during productio
  16. I wanted to buy this game, but had to pass due to budget. It looks great. How did you like it?
  17. Link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/953146955/sleeping-gods Here you go, Barb. I want to buy it, but its sooo expensive. I love Near and Far & Above and Below. Great story-tellling games. I'm sure this will be an awesome game too, but $120 for base and expansion is costly. I may wait for retail on this one. I did back Ryan's last Kickstarter for Raom.
  18. That is very detailed indeed. Impressive project he has.
  19. Those trees are a really nice touch for that game.
  20. Here are some of my latest creations. The two warriors and the pirate with the chest are from beginner Reaper minatures that I've had sitting around for over a year and finally decided to paint them.
  21. Maybe that is what the Wrym game designer should have done. Asked for volunteers to donate more to shipping. I would do so. Better than my game sitting around in a warehouse forever. I am glad Unbroken is shipping. Sometimes honest designers run into serious problems and have to make hard decisions. Many learn from those mistakes and continue forward. Many of us backers are forgiving of mistakes if the creators are honest and upfront.
  22. I own 3 of those on your Shelf of Shame: Founders of Gloomhaven, Rise of Tribes, and Dinogenics. I have played all of them. Founders of Gloomhaven is fun in the beginning, but both my sister and I get confused and frustrated when building 3 tier buildings. You have to backtrack through 2 other layers of buildings to figure out how to properly split the points for the Tier 3 buildings, which often leads to math debates. While I love the concept of the game, I just wished it was easier to figure out the math part. We could handle the Tier 2 math ok, just its too much for Tier 3. Dinoge
  23. I have Clans of Caledonia and during my first play considered it an instant classic Euro. Great game. Most likely I will put it on the 10x10 Challenge next year. Its many components are awesome. My one complaint is there is no option to sweep the market and get new orders. Neither my sister or I like to take orders where you kill an animal for meat, so we kept avoiding those. But when almost all of them are meat orders, we become very stuck. So we finally homeruled that if you pay money, then you can sweep the market. Some other games have that rule such as Monarch. I thing we settled on the p
  24. Soon, so soon. Your patience will soon be richly rewarded.
  25. My sister and I have played both several times. Mint Delivery is our favorite of the two.
