Hello people..

Long time lurker, first time poster here.

After quite a long wait (International backer N*936) my coco's finally made it to France this week. And well...it was worth the wait!  The wood are Padauk, Canarywood, Black Walnut, and Chechen. (i guess, since it's my order and it look like it, but i have a small doubt with Benge, because of the felt not corresponding the one annouced for Chechen).

The last pic is some of my canarywood coco, ready to help me DM a game of Conan 2d20, with those fancy doom and momentum stone (and some coins for Fortune Points).

Now my newest precious.  I beat out Eric by 1 second, and I don't feel bad about it at all.  Ziricote XL Sheath and my dark bloodwood dice.

Those zircote boxes are gorgeous. Nice grab Barb :).  Seeing those cases didn't make it any easier to pick woods for dice.

ziricote dice is sort of a crapshoot.  I got a d20, and you really can't see the grain much in mine.  The box is big enough you can see the grain.

Yeah, I think I've settled on getting a box with Ziricote some day instead of the dice. Its the sort of wood that looks like it needs lots of space to show off.

I've come to the conclusion that a bunch of the woods really show off better with more surface area.  I think the dice work best with either those with VERY little variation (the blackwood and the macassar or gaboon ebony).  Or those with VERY high contrast (bocote, tamarind, b&w ebony).

A lot of the woods with heavy grain, but only slight color variations do seem to end up very similar (and difficult to tell apart) on the smaller surface of the dice.

Lol - I haven't bought a Cocobolo.. so I can't speak to that.

And I do have Olivewood.. and it is very pretty.. but I still think it shows off better in larger pieces.

Tbh I think all the woods look best in big pieces! All of them. But I think olivewood shows up as well as the others in dice form. Hmmm I need to take some photos anyway. Okay more pictures it is.

Experimental Bordeaux finish on African Mahogany, and the ziricote XL sheath:

I am in love with this finish on the mahogany. It’s stunning. It has an iridescent quality in person that is fantastic.  Back side to show you how it looks on unsculpted surface:3441AC7B-0392-452B-A7D7-B7A848225922.thumb.jpeg.00a377fe28dc2a10551f6892c40c6453.jpeg

It’s always fun to see how the woodgrain lines up.  It looks like the sheath pieces fit together like so:

Lots of will power to not pick up my third dice tray (not including the coco dice trays).  Nice get Eric!  Your second pick of Zircote is aok too.
