Recommended Posts

I painted yesterday, and plan to do some more today now that the hard yard work is completed.  First time in well over a month.

I had fun trying to figure out how to paint the fire in the mouth of the trap.  Decided that the eyes and nose would have allowed for fire light exit.

@Zoxe those tentacles minis are awesome.  Could have used them the other day when  playing Pathfinder. Our ship was attacked.

Great pictures, Barb. I really love that background which adds epicness to the pictures. Would love to own some of those skulls.

fyi - War in Christmas Village news.  "Expansion": "The Gingerbread Gang" coming in for, insert gag here, "Christmas in July".

In other news...I’ve decided to launch the next Kickstarter for “The Gingerbread Gang” with a Christmas in July theme for #breakkickstarter on July 15th, as we finish up international fulfillment, as well as, the shipment of loose minis.

I'm intrigued. You will have to post a link when it goes live. I didn't know you were involved in making Kickstarters. That is cool.

I just cut/pasted from an update email.  I've never created (and never will) a KS project.  When I get the email about the launching, I'll put the link here.

I'll never launch one either. Far too much work. I prefer just enjoying the games, not designing them. Its tough enough writing books in my spare time (what little I have).  Gaming does consume too much of my time.

Village Attacks!  2nd to last mob time 8.  A LOT of putzy details, and hard to reach places.  Note: Mrs. Fisher's sister photobombing...

Here are some of my latest creations. The two warriors and the pirate with the chest are from beginner Reaper minatures that I've had sitting around for over a year and finally decided to paint them.

@RomyCat,  These look good.  You've got wood down!  Consider more liberal usage of washes.  I put washes on just about everything.  They really bring out the details.

I'm proud to say that the color shift scorpion won first place for Best Monster in the Shadows of Brimstone painting competition at Gencon.  I was greatly humbled by the response to the figure.  Picture below is in the case at the show floor, followed by a couple of glamour shots in my light box.

I painted a pair of them, but the category is for best single figure, so I picked the one I liked better for the entry (the one with the ram horn skull).

Middle of the weekend, I was at the booth buying stuff, and noticed a guy with the scorpion kit box in his hand. He brought his wife to the case, pointed at the box, then my figure, and back again and gestured excitedly. She smiled and nodded, he pulled out a phone and took several pictures of my figure. That one exchange was better than winning anything.

My other entry was greatly enjoyed by the people I talked with, but rightfully didn't place. There were some wonderful entries in the diorama category. I painted up two sets of bad guys in the Ghostbusters vs. Slimer theme. The backdrop was out of a hot wheels set that I repainted.

The little Ghostbusters shoulder patches were free hand, my first real attempt at something like that. Had a ton of fun, will put the Ghostbusters on the gaming table proudly.

That's fantastic @Zoxe.  I know that when someone stopped their car, got out, and took pictures of my yard it didn't suck.
