What Sites do you guys read?

Recommended Posts

So, what nerdly/geeky news feeds do you guys monitor?  I don't do Facebook or other social media (I will admit to having very specific FB pages bookmarked to check on specific vendors, but I don't actually have a FB account).

For generic news, I tend to watch http://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/ and https://www.beastsofwar.com/ but it's easy for things to slip by.

How's about you??

Not really news feeds, but you can get lost for hours in these kind of sites.

https://www.nasa.gov/press-release/nasa-releases-plan-outlining-next-steps-in-the-journey-to-mars

http://www.powerelectronics.com/automotive/next-nasa-mars-rover-reaches-key-manufacturing-milestone

If you google "news feeds for space" you can get sites for more press release like sites.

Oh, I can get lost in Wikipedia for HOURS on stuff of this flavor - NASA history, WW2, old PC games, Movies.  But I was actually talking about RPG/Boardgames News.  :)

Oh.  Can't help you there.  I don't read that stuff.  Note: You asked about nerdly/geeky news feeds, and NASA/Spacex fits that description.  🙂

I have a long commute and so do most of my reading with my ears via podcasts to keep up on the news.

My go-tos are:

The Dice Tower

The Secret Cabal Gaming Podcast

Rahdo Talks Through

Ludology

Occassionally I listen to Heavy Cardboard, but not as regularly as the others.

Another fun one for getting into the theories, mechanisms, and business behind games is The Board Game Design Lab.  They generally have guest designers address one very specific aspect of boardgame design per episode and it can be a fascinating glimpse into the hobby from a different perspective.

I spend far too much time on Kickstarter and BGG. Does help me know which games are "in" at the moment. I also watch a lot of Dice Tower, Rahdo, and Shut Up & Sit Down.

I’ve been spending a lot of time in DMC on Facebook. Dice are kind of a thing for me right now. But my nerdy stuff tends to be less informative. I have listened to dice tower but podcast wise it’s usually more entertainment like queens of adventure.
