That does not look fun...

And it keeps getting worse.  Now it's 6-11" of wet/heavy snow.

About 4" on the ground and we still haven't gotten to the heavy stuff (dark green) yet.  Note: storm moving north...

We got a few inches overnight, and thankfully it stayed cold enough that it was snow and not ice like they feared.  Temp has come up and it's already starting to melt off.

Mrs. Zoxe and I are home today.  We both got some airplane crud on the way back from Miami.  I slept for an extra four hours and am now in the "everything hurts" stage so maybe I'm on the back side of it.

That's a bummer.  Try dosing up a day before flying and 2 days after landing with Zicam.  The stuff is golden.

I just came back inside from the first pass shoveling.  I hand shoveled a path to the garage, blew out the back, and blew my way down the alley--> around the block --> down the front sidewalk.  By the time I got back to the driveway, there was another inch or more snow sitting there.  Then I took the shovel to the front and got the steps/front walk.  I was scraping snow out of the way with the storm door.  Ugh!  All told, a smidgen over an hour to do the first pass, but I will be really glad I did it when I go out the 2nd time after lunch.  The good news was it wasn't as dense as I was thinking it was going to be.  The bad news was it was deeper than I was expecting.  Has to be well over 6" so far.   So we're probably looking at the top side of the prediction or more.  Bleah!  Still trying to not have bad thoughts about my fraudulent snow removal guy, but it's getting harder to do.  Note: my garage door kept binding on the way down from all the snow on the roof of the garage.  I'll have to get the rake out again...  So, @RomyCat, you still want some snow?

We got a round of freezing rain last night. That will be fun in the places where the snow was melting yesterday.

Good thing I don't need to use the AC as it's buried in snow (and that's not a drift). 🙈   About 16" of snow on the garage roof.  I'm glad I shoveled the top 2 feet of snow off of the snow pile in back yesterday.  Even with that "hair cut", the burning bush Thumper likes to chew on is almost completely buried.  I need to get back out and do phase 2 shoveling and rake the roofs.  I think I may need a cocktail waiting for me as incentive.

Well, it just won't stop snowing.  At least it's not the heavy snow anymore, so I raked the first story roofs.  I managed to break my snow blower trying to clean up the raked snow from in front of the garage service door.  I'm hoping that it's just some safety feature (like hot engine), and it will work when I try tomorrow.  I can start it just fine, but then it's like a kill switch is hit.

Getting those house 1st story roofs raked really stunk.  I had to slog through mid thigh high snow to get to them.  Let's just say unless there is some snow melt, I'm going to have to protect my glory from frostbite next time I  have to rake the roofs again.

The good news is I got my snow blower working over lunch.  The bad news is another 4-7" of snow this weekend with some freezing rain thrown in to boot.  I'm off to shovel off the top 2 feet off the top of my snow banks again.  smh

I don't mean to be a whiner, but come on!  We're already at 34" of snow just for February.  If we get the top end of the forecasted range, Minneapolis will top 40" in a 28 day month with another blast due on Tuesday.  Now that we've finally got most of the ice gone, now some freezing drizzle to put it back.  smh

Current weather report:  Windy, rainy, and a lightning storm.  This morning it was low 20s (F) and ice everywhere.  I think it's close to 60 (F) right now.

Another two storms went through the last couple of days.  Two inches overnight Friday.  Then Saturday night another bunch of snow fell.  Not sure how much as the wind is howling out now.  Some places are bare concrete, and two feet deep a couple of feet over.  Thanks to game night, I didn't get up until 10 am.  When I woke up, my driveway had been blown already by my rock star neighbor Ed.  What luck!  I had woke up at 4 am, and contemplated blowing the snow then as I knew the temps were going to be dropping throughout the day.  I ultimately decided to try going back to sleep instead of waking up neighbors with the snow blower at 4 am.  I headed out the front door around 10:30.  I got as far as shoveling off the steps, and another rock star neighbor Kevin came over and told me he'd take care of the walkways in the front of my house!  I love this neighborhood (sans a couple of clunkers).  So this left me with just shoveling from the back door to the garage service door.  Between the front steps and the back walk, it took 40 minutes to complete the shoveling.  I'm very grateful for my rock star neighbors or I'd be trashed for a few hours.

The phone rang not long ago declaring the 4th snow emergency in 3 weeks.  They just plowed in front of my house yesterday afternoon to complete the last snow emergency plowing.  Near around the clock plowing to keep the city moving.  My guess is that's got to be about the end of the city snow removal budget for the year.  I haven't climbed onto my roof, but have been raking the places I can reach.  The 2nd story is getting a little sketchy...

We picked up another 4 inches last night and today. Luckily most of the previous had melted. Not too often we have snow this late in the year. Still headed north 2 hours to try out a brewery. It was ok, not as good as others in the region. Cool that it was an inn, bowling alley, casino and brewery though.

Wow!

I should have grabbed some photos of our yard this weekend. From the last few weeks, our entire yard became a solid ice sheet. Friday to Saturday, that all melted. We've had a little "pond" in our yard before, but this was on another level, since the WHOLE yard had been iced over. It was like a lake! I wasn't really sure where/if my dogs were even gonna play outside. Then Sunday began freezing it over again.

This morning, I carefully walked my dogs over and let them see me step on the refrozen lake. It was covered in fresh snow, so you wouldn't know it was there. When I stepped on it, you could feel/hear that eerie, deep, loud crack as the ice under my feet splintered outward across the yard. They were bewildered! But learned to stick to the edges. It's only a few inches deep, but I don't want them racing across it, breaking the ice, and then twisting a leg or something, getting stuck in the hole they made.

All we had was A LOT of wind this weekend and rain.  Wind was bad though.

Wind was bad here too.  The entire Strip District was without power when I was driving back from my gaming at 8:30 last night.

Still have a lot of places / traffic lights without power.  I must have seen at least four down trees on my way in to my PT and then in to work this morning.

I wish I was.  The one guy that understands the Azure build/release stuff is now out for 4 months starting today.  His wife has MS and just went into labor last night.  Of course, everything breaks this morning...

Note: At least your plows have room to plow wide roads.  It's just a matter of time before they shut down parking on certain sides of the streets.  I estimate my street is 5 feet more narrow.
