Why is it every year when my hostas are up and looking great, it frickin hails.  I took some pics so I could remember what they looked like before they looked like Swiss cheese.

Oh no. You gotta show an after photo set now. Were they real tore up?

  2. Aaaawwwwwww!!!!!!!!! You guyssss!!!!!!!!!!! 😭❤️❤️❤️ This just made my whole week!!

'Spunky' is definitely an adjective that has been used to describe me since I was at least 5, lol. And 'bubbly'. I don't think I really resemble a bottle of champagne, though. 😉

Well, look who showed up.  I noticed for the first time she wasn't within 6 feet of the nest at dusk last night.  She must have gone and gotten him.  The vine is waking up, but she's still pretty darn hard to see while he really stands out.  Maybe that's why he's been staying away.

Ooh! It did take me a moment to find her. Haha, glad you shared this photo. That was a fun tidbit to my morning.

Gencon announces their calendar in advance, and then uses a wishlist system to build out your calendar for the 4 1/2 days.  Then you log in at the appointed time (i.e. today at noon) and click a button to submit your wishlist to the Gencon supercomputer for cranking.  Of course, everyone is doing the same thing and the whole system pauses and shudders when the clock ticks over.  When you click, you can almost feel the power grid browning down and the earth's rotation stuttering a bit.

Anyway, the last two years have been unkind to us in the queue.  This year I got marginally better at about 8200ish (vs. I think maybe 14,000+ last year? I'd have to go look).  Mrs. Zoxe initially didn't get a number at all, but finally took a risk, refreshed the page, and found that she was 1,000 lower than me.

When the dust settled, we didn't get into our painting classes (booo!) but I had plenty of other events to choose from.   #1 on my list was Dropfleet's Narrative Battle, and I got into that.  Mrs. Zoxe got into some writing events and a crochet class (crochet a dice bag! hah!).

But we have things we can do and are not scrambling back through the catalog to make use of our time.  #nerdstress

I'm laughing at your description of its effect on the earth, hahaha. Oh goodness. Glad it worked out pretty okay at least!

Getting excited for PaizoCon this coming weekend. Got into 2 lottery games and some fun seminars. Really looking forward to the Viking Meadery which is walking distance from the hotel :).

    Ahhh, that sounds amazing!!

Sounds like he's got a mental disorder.

Some backers are finding now that there's more in some of his streams - sounds like he's trying to buy adderall in a couple, over the phone, which is not what I would have expected as his drug of choice. But yeah.

As I can't look at most of this stuff, can someone one summarize what's so insane?

The KS backers on the original campaign were trying to dig up dirt on the guy - or figure out why he was ridiculous enough to think launching a GoT card game was a good idea.

They found his YouTube account, which had a bunch of hours long streams on it. In one of those, there is audio of him screaming and possibly beating one of his children while they scream. The backers immediately took action and sent these clips to the local CPS. There is now a news article from their local NBC news reporting on two missing children being found - using photos that are directly from the guy's Facebook, and their names match up. They found the two kids with their parents and for now don't think the kids are in immediate danger. They believe the parents fled/hid with the kids when they thought they were getting a visit from CPS.

  7. Ahaha, I got night terrors as a kid, which is like sleepwalking during a nightmare. One of the ones I had was kind of Zelda-esque. There were tall, wiggly pillars standing above a crashing ocean. It was dark, spooky. All you could see was the next pillar and the waves crashing up against the bottom of them. It was a million miles down, it seemed like. I stepped from one pillar to the other.

    Then I fell.

    And I woke up.

I had been standing on my bed, trying to step to the stool at my writing desk. Not the most stable of stools - it was one of those fold-up ones - so I fell. I crawled back into bed and didn't remember anything until I got to the mirror that morning and saw dried blood on my nose.

Hahaha, oops. Now this is turning into a dream sharing thread, lol.

Whenever I think of Murphy's Law, I think of all the times in theater where we had something wrong with the set, and it was always dead center stage.

Yep, exactly my thoughts. Which is kind of heartbreaking for the guy. I don't think he's coming at this maliciously.

Uhhhh, gonna take all that back. This campaign took a dark turn - the backers that were previously trolling and being sarcastic, etc., are now turning around to alert CPS to this guy's YouTube channel.

Yeah - I don't know if it is legitimate or not.

I suspect it depends on your definition of legitimate :)

i.e. I DON'T think the person is attempting to scam people.  I think most scammers would put more time into presenting something that seemed professional and real.

On the other hand, despite what the person thinks, I don't think they really have the license for all this.  Licensing is complicated, and often far deeper than those who haven't dealt with it before.  I've seen far better presented campaigns that THOUGHT they had all the licensing they needed, only to find out that there were like three other parties who also had 'rights' that needed to be licensed.

So yeah - I think this will get shut down eventually.

Yep, exactly my thoughts. Which is kind of heartbreaking for the guy. I don't think he's coming at this maliciously.

Well, it's in Japan, and my friend went from the UK to there to visit his sister for like two weeks. You have to reserve it in advance, but the food is supposedly pretty good and you get coasters when you go there, often of the different jobs... here's an article about it. https://favy-jp.com/topics/1682

Ooooohhhh my gosh. Omg. I'm never going to be able to go to every attraction I'm interested in, in a singular trip to Japan. Gonna havta do multiple. Man.
