    Better late than never.

What’s the game you played the most this year?

Azul for me, followed by Welcome To....

Game that surprised you the most?

Hm, many games lived up to what I expected. Perhaps a surprised gem was Ramen Fury which you can pick up at Walmart for $10. Fast, fun game which makes me hungry whenever  I play it.

Game you regret the most not backing?

Originally Obsession from a few years ago, but it came back a few months go and I did back it this time.

Obsession came in last week and my sister and I had a blast playing it. Well worth the wait.  So it is no longer my "Game you regret the most not backing."  Glad I caught Printing Two.

I ended up backing The Emerald Flame a few weeks ago, and I'm really excited for it! You can only play it once, but it's absolutely gorgeous. The whole idea is that you play it and solve it, and then pass it on to someone else.

I also backed this one awhile ago, because of course I did. It looks like an absolute blast.

The Communist Cats looks funny. My own cats do think they own everything: house, food, and people.

  3. @Anne, I've never heard of Ark: Survival Evolved, but now you have been intrigued. One of my favorite things about Skyrim is having a home you can decorate. Ark seems like a game I would love to play, but its expensive. I'm going to ad it to my watch list and try to catch it on sell.

@Serge Darveau, you picked a great one. Dragon Warrior was the first RPG I ever played. I was in maybe 9th grade at the time. It blew me away with what a video game was capable of doing. It even gave the option of joining up with the bad guy at the end of the game, which my mom accidentally did.  My sister, mom, and myself devoured this game with each of us playing for an hour or two at a time while the others kept wanting to steal the controller so we could play.

The current games I play a lot are Animal Crossing: New Horizon and Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Just yesterday after work, I finally faced off against Gannon and beat him with my niece rooting for me and looking up tips on her phone when I got stuck in one place. It was awesome sharing the victory with her.

  4. RPG's do deserve the spotlight.  I've been supporting the Battle Mat series through 3 campaigns. While the latest is already over and will soon be delivering, I wanted to give them a shutout. They often give us backers lots of extra digital stuff while development is going on that is not even mentioned in the actual Kickstarters.  Just Thursday they gave us an Adventure Module to accompany their Towns & Towers map book.

We played it about 10 time so far.  Definitely worth the price for me.  Very memorable games, but the more people you have (and helps to have at least a few people that don't mind being a villian) the funner it is.  Everyone has their own hidden agenda, but you can't make it out alive without help from others.  Some are like player A has to die and the ship returns to Earth.  Others are like you need to get the ship to Mars with an alien corpse.  Others are like destroy the ship and return with an egg.  You can't actively hurt the other players, but you could close a door so a player fleeing from an alien can't escape.  Or you could throw a grenade in a room that you are in if there is an alien in there too.  Or you could skip helping a player with an alien.

Ah, sounds intriguing. Right now, most of the games I play are only with our sister. Since the Virus hit, we don't get to go to the monthly Gaming meetups. So if it needs a lot of people, it won't get played much by my sister and me.

Dang it!  Nemesis Lockdown is live.  If you missed the first Nemesis, now is your chance.  It's an awesome game.

I still remember the cool cat mini. Just wondering, how often have you played it? Is it really worth the high price?

  8. Ooh, @Serge Darveau, I was chatting through the Kickstarter comments with  Mike Veen who works for Breaking Games. I mentioned I had backed the expansion of Rise of Tribes because of you, and he said this about you in the comment section, "Nice! Thanks for the links, RomyCat. Serge Darveau has been a true champion of this campaign being active posting his solo play in the Facebook group as well. Thanks, Serge! Glad you got on RomyCat's radar. :)"

  9. I curious about The Stars Align by Breaking Games. Great title. It's a two player game about lining up stars to match patterns on cards. Has a day/night cycle.

Here is a link to their Kickstarter for the Rise of Tribes expansion that we have been mentioning. Time is almost up for it. Many of you may remember that Breaking Games did a tie in with Dog Might two years ago with the base game. A lot of us got cool CoCo with shapes from the game like the awesome Sabertooth Tiger.

That's some sexy rosewood.  @Zenithsplendor did some excellent shopping.  I was also amazed how big the card stands were.  They come in handy when Jameus is being a dink and is sitting across the table.  Not as pretty as some of my DMG weapons, but they have some heft to them and are less likely to kill him.  😈

That black Limba is perfect for a necromancer and really show off your dice.

Ah, you recognize the black limba. I actually had forgotten which kind I bought and was wondering.  😌

My new Looking Glass which fits with the necromancer character I play in Pathfinder. Hidden among the dice is my pride and joy Leopardwood D20 (far left, middle row) from DMG. The Looking Glass is smaller than I had thought, which makes it light and easy portable. I'm eagerly looking forward to showing off this case at my next Pathfinder meeting.

For Christmas my sister game me these two card holders made of my favorite two woods: leopardwood and rosewood. These card holders are FAR larger than I had guessed. Impressive and beautiful.

My cat Rose playing Cat Lady. Can you guess her favorite wood?

Another close up, this time with cards.

Without any spoilers, if you had a chance to get the contents of envelope X for $15, would you do it?

When we found the contents of envelope X, it says on the outside something like, "Open when you feel you deserve to."  My sister and I felt we still has a lot of room for improvement so we have not opened it. Now I'm really, really curious about what is inside. Need to play some more Gloomhaven soon and prove our worth.

Frosthaven (separate follow on from Gloomhaven) just went live.  I just broke my new year's pledge to not pledge any new games.

Yep, I backed Gloomhaven. I'm excited to see that it is the 8th most funded project ever on Kickstarter and 2nd place for board games. Can it beat Kingdom Death with its $12,300,000?
